I checked my unit and i do have the .gpi files there. I see that my problem is that a do not understand .gpi files. I thought they would be multi kilobite files to include all the information but they are smaller than even zipped files. I still do no see how they can get all the info including audio in these files. Can somebody give this novice a primer on this?

Hi,
It sounds as though you are downloading and transferring the .gpi file corectly.  However, I think the problem that you're experiencing is due to the fact that the Wilderness Trail tour does not have any audio or images associated with it.  Thus, the .gpi file is very small.  If there were audio or images associated with it, the file would be much larger.  Try downloading the http://www.geovative.com/view?t=IME - San Francisco Sights tour and you will see that the .gpi file is much larger since it contains audio and images.

Which GPS device are you using?  This may have some affect on what information you're able to see once you've loaded the file to your device.

Thanks, Scott

When I download the .gpi through the 1st option it goes to the Garmin/POI folder on my Nuvi 350 but I'm not sure what to do from there? If I go through Travel Kit -> Travel Guide I get a message that no Travel Guides are present on the device. Have I missed a step or not enabled something somewhere?

Try going to "Where To?", My Locations, Custom POI, and the tour should show up there.  If not, let me know which tour you're trying to download and I'll see if there's a problem with that specific tour.

Thanks, Scott

Thanks ~ I was able to find them this way and they showed just fine! Am I correct that if I set a proximity alert that as I'm walking around that POI will display automatically?

Example: What I'm wanting to do is go to Disney World with the family. I've downloaded a .kml showing ride, restaurant, and restroom locations. I wish to convert to a Travel Guide, download it to my nuvi 350 and as we are walking around things can pop-up or when asked "where is the nearest restroom?" Nuvi 350 to the rescue!

Any tips or suggestions would be great.

Yes, if you set the proximity alert to a certain distance, it will show up on your nuvi when you are within that distance.

Your example should work.  The restaurant/restroom/ride locations you created should pop up when you are within the proximity you've set.  The only thing I'm not sure of is what will happen when you are within the proximity of multiple locations at the same time.  Note that when you have downloaded a tour guide to your nuvi, the locations show up as grey dots.  So another alternative would be to look at your map while you're at disney world and see where the closest grey dot is.

I might suggest creating separate tours for the restaurants, rides, and restrooms.  Then, when you need to find something, you can select the appropriate tour, and the restaurants (for instance) will show up with the closest being first and the furthest being last.  This method would allow you to not have to have ALL locations in one tour and have to sift through all the locations to find what you want.

Let me know if you have any further questions.  I wish I had had this tour when I went to disney world last year! ;)
